Web Design Process

You can pick from an ever expanding range of templates for your new website. If you can’t find one that fits your needs then please get in touch, I may have one coming soon that will work perfectly for you. Otherwise, with minimal work one of the existing templates could suit your purposes very well after a little bit of modification.

I will need you to fill out a form with the necessary details for me to complete the work. These will include your current Wordpress website admin URL and an admin account login information. This will let me access your Wordpress dashboard to complete the work.

If you do not currently have Wordpress installed on your hosting account, or even have a hosting account yet, that’s not a problem. I can set these up for you very quickly.

I accept PayPal, bank transfer and cheque. 

When you pick your template you will see what content is needed for your website. As standard, all templates come with temporary text and images. The images can be used for your new site if you wish, but to make it truly your own space on the internet, it is advisable to replace them as well as the text.

You can send me this in a text document and collection of images, named for each page of your site.

The simplest way to send these is through a cloud system such as Dropbox. When we discuss the project this can be agreed upon.

I will install your new template website, the advanced page builder, add your content and activate your lifetime of updates.

As soon as I have set your new website up for you I will let you know. You will be able to log in using your existing credentials, or in the case that I have set up a fresh installation of Wordpress for you, I will send you the log in details.

Your site is now complete and will be handed back to you. You will be able to log in and add any extra content that you need as time goes on and your business or project evolves.

There are helpful videos accessible right from the page builder to help you along the way.

You will also be able to apply any security patches and updates to your website, make and keep backups, add new pages and make the site truly your own.

If you would rather, I can maintain your website for you. I can run all updates, make backups of your site at regular intervals and keep them in safe in cloud storage and even keep an eye on things like site uptime, SEO ranking, security warnings and keep you informed of all work done on your behalf.

The first step in this process is for you to let me know what you want to achieve with your website and what you want it to do. For example, are you wanting to sell a physical product, a service, advertise an event or blog about your passion? You can fill out a form which will give me a quick overview of your aims and we will go from there.

Once you have given me an idea of what the focus for your website will be I will arrange to have an in-depth discussion with you about every aspect of your site and how best to achieve your aims. This can be in person, on the phone or over webcam. I will assess your needs and give you my advice on how best to make your website a reality.

After the consultation, I will put together a document covering your needs, what we have agreed and what I will do during the project. I will also give you a quote for the design and build of your website. Once this has been agreed on, then the project can move forward.

A deposit will be required to secure the project, details of this will be covered in the written agreement. Payment is accepted via cheque, bank transfer and PayPal.

You will most likely have some content you want to be used on your website, such as your company logo, product images, video and text. This will need to be uploaded to me via a secure cloud folder so I can incorporate it into the design.

Now that everything is in place, work can begin on designing your website. Initially I will create a Coming Soon page to begin building a buzz about your upcoming site. In the background, unseen by anyone visiting this holding page, I will be putting the bones of the site in place, adding your content, creating or sourcing other content if needed and making things look just as you have specified. I will keep you up to date on the progress and provide images of where the site is at in the design process.  

Once the design is complete, I will send you a link to the finished website. (This may be a slightly different link to your main domain depending on what was agreed in the consultation.) You will be able to test the site, have a look at every aspect and give me some feedback. Any alterations that need to be made to the way the site is laid out can be discussed.

Once these changes have been implemented there will be another opportunity to test the site and discuss further changes as needed.

After these two revision stages, any other revisions will incur an extra fee.

Now the site is complete and has been signed off by you, it can be sent live for the world to enjoy. I will provide you with the admin link and log in details so you can access the back end of the site and update your content, add new pages, post blogs and maintain the site. This will include installing security updates and patches for the software your site uses as well as dealing with any spam comments your blog posts will receive. Tutorials and help videos are built right into the page builder of your site and many online resources are available to help you with this.
